One of the largest meme token projects, SHIB coin, has recently caught the attention of the electronics giant hailing from the United States. The official Twitter account of Newegg has recently tagged the founder of the Shiba Inu token called Shytoshi Kusama about having an inquiry for them.
The news did not take a very long time to spread like wildfire in the cryptocurrency community. The SHIB investors and maximalists quickly started to speculate that the electronics retailer might be opting for a partnership deal with the token. If the rumors hold any water, Newegg management might be considering SHIB as a payment option on their platform.

The SHIB token has currently been replaced by another crypto token called AVAX on the 11th rank on the cryptocurrency leaderboard. During the last 24 hours, the SHIB token price movement was unable to recover from the 38% decline last week. At present, the SHIB token has crashed 40% from its latest ATH in October.
For the time being, no official confirmation has been provided by the SHIB developers or the officials of the Newegg management about the listing of the meme coin as a mode of payment. However, there are very slim chances that such an event will take place. Despite having 50K signatures on the Change.org platform for a petition to list SHIB on Robinhood, the company has clarified that it is not happening.
Newegg also Accepts Other Cryptocurrencies
This is not the first time that Newegg is exploring blockchain technology options. The electronics giant became one of the first organizations in the world to enable Bitcoin payments in 2014. There are already a wide variety of cryptocurrencies listed on the platform, which the users can choose as a mode of payment.
The eligible payment list includes Bitcoin, Wrapped BTC, Litecoin, Ether, PAX, GUSD, BUSD, USDC, and Bitcoin Cash, among others. The Cinema giant of USA, AMC, has also made public that the moviegoers will be able to book their tickets with Shiba Inu token. The news was announced by the CEO of AMC, Adam Aron, who claimed that that the transition would take four months to take place.
